Masala Paratha
Masala paratha is spiced but not enough that it becomes spicy, it is crisp, evenly cooked, and when served hot nothing can match early morning breakfast. Though there are varieties available in this recipe, I will share My Kitchen... My Recipe... My Way...
Mostly enjoyed in breakfast with plain curd, chutney (Sauce), pickle or only with tea. One of the best options for kids tiffin. It is healthy, tasty, and filling.
- Preparation Time: 7 - 8 min
- Cooking Time: 5 - 8 min
- Serves 2 - 3
- Course: Breakfast/ Kids Tiffin
Ingredients for Masala
- Besan: 2/3 Cup
- Carrom seeds: 1 teaspoon
- Coriander Powder: 2 teaspoon
- Red Chilli Powder: 1 teaspoon
- Cumin Powder: 1 teaspoon
- Fennel Seed: 1 teaspoon (crushed)
- Amchur Powder: 1 teaspoon
- Kasuri Methi: 1 teaspoon (crushed) optional
- Salt, Rock Salt: As per taste
Ingredients for dough
- Plain flour(atta): 2 Cups
- Salt: To Taste
- Oil: 1 tablespoon (knead)
- water: 1/2 cup
- Ghee: 3 - 4 tablespoon ( for rolling and roasting paratha)
Method
To make masala paratha, we will make masala first. For making masala dry roast the besan on low flame till it changes color and turns aromatic (4-5 min). Turn off the flame and add all the spices in roasted besan at the same time when it is hot, and let spices simmer in besan till the besan cools down.
On the other hand, knead a soft dough and let it rest for 10 min. Take a medium size dough and roll it like normal chapati, spread the ghee all over the chapati, and sprinkle a generous amount of cooked masala over it, now fold it into a square shape of paratha so that paratha will have prominent layers.
Now heat the pan and place the paratha, the pan should be medium hot roast the masala paratha like any other paratha. Your 'Instant Masala Paratha' is ready.
Instant Kitchen Tip
- Use only 'Ghee' while rolling the paratha, it is a game-changer.
- You can store the masala in an airtight container for a longer period of time.
