Masala Tea - An Introduction

Tea a fragrant drink normally set up by pouring hot or bubbling water over-restored or new leaves of the Camellia Sinensis (Tea plant), an evergreen bush local to East Asia. Tea has an animating impact on people fundamentally by its caffeine content.

Indians mostly prefer Tea over coffee, more so that they drink tea without occasion and time, you go to any office, get together or even having headache easily available remedy. Over the year people have developed different flavors and variations of tea, which bring us to introduce "Masala Tea" it one it's kind with a load of spice and aromatic fragrance. 

Chai Ka Masala

Although traditionally prepared as a decoction of green cardamom pods, cinnamon sticks, ground cloves, ground ginger, and black peppercorn alongside tea leaves, retail versions include tea bags for infusion, instant powdered mixtures, and concentrates. Let me introduce you to the simple and quick recipe to make "Chai ka Masala".

  • Preparation Time - 5 min
  • Cooking Time - 7- 10 min

Ingredients :

  • cardamom - 40 gm ( 20-25)
  • cloves - 20 gm ( 20-22)
  • cinnamon - 1 stick ( 1 inch)
  • pepper - 20 gm ( 22-25 corns)
  • ginger powder - 20 gm 
  • nutmeg powder ( optional) - 2-3 pinch

Method:

Heat the pan add cardamom, cloves, cinnamon, pepper, and roast it on low flame until it turns aromatic (4 - 5 mins). Now keep it aside and let it cool completely. Add ginger powder and nutmeg powder grind it to a slightly coarse powder. Chai Masala is ready. Store the masala in an airtight container. 1/2 tsp powder is enough for 2 cups of tea. If you didn't have ginger powder use fresh ginger when making tea.
While making tea add this masala as soon as the water becomes a little warm and let it simmer and then make tea as you do normally.


Quick Kitchen Tip : 

Add a pinch of saffron to "Chai Ka Masala" while grinding the masala, it will add a beautiful aroma and colour to your Tea, You can use this masala for lemon and herbal tea as well. 

This masala can also be used for Kadha and Turmeric (Haldi) milk for health benefit
