Daal or Lentils are an important part of everyday meal in India and Sub-Continent, whether it is north or south, east or west. Daal is almost cooked every day and eaten with either roti or rice. One Daal you may not have heard of is 'Bakhra Daal', it is not that popular, only some people know about it, but this daal is super tasty. It is so tasty that whenever it is cooked in our house it increases the appetite of family members because it is so very tempting.
I learned this 'Bakhra Daal' recipe from my Mother-in-law, she is the one who first cooked for me and upskills my culinary skills in this regard. It is one of my go-to recipes when I am confused about what to make. as it is easy to make with few ingredients and add different flavors to the plate.

Ingredients
- Urad Dal 1/2 cup
- Tomato 2 big (chopped)
- Ginger 1 inch
- Asafoetida 1/2tsp
- Dry Red Chilli (opt) 1 - 2
- Kashmiri Lal Mirch 1/2 tsp
- Ghee 1 - 2 tbs
- Water 1 cup
- Salt to taste
