Healthy Dalia ( Porridge)

Dalia is broken wheat with husk, they are very rich in protein, nutrition and fiber. Daila has good health benefits and helps diabetic patient, it also adds to your muscle and help in shedding excessive weight. Dalia is often consumed with milk and honey as early morning breakfast. It can be cooked in both sweet and salty way.

The recipes shared today is easy and ideal for an early morning breakfast that will make hunger controlled till your Lunchtime begin. Dalia Khichdi is full of veggies with no spice at all.

Ingredients

  • Dalia 1 cup
  • Ghee 2 tbs
  • Cumin Seed  1 tsp
  • Turmeric Powder (opt)  1 tsp
  • Asafoetida 1 pinch
  • Onion 1 medium ( chopped)
  • Ginger 1 inch (chopped)
  • Tomatoes 2 medium (chopped)
  • Green Peas 1/2 cup
  • Carrots  1/2 cup ( chopped)
  • Capsicum 1/2 cup (chopped)
  • Corns 1/4 cup 
  • Green chilies 2 -3 (chopped) 
  • Water  1 1/2 cup 
  • Fresh Coriander 2 tbs 
  • Lemon Juice to taste

Method


Dalia is good source of energy, start your day with a bowl of Dalia that fill your appetite for some hour, Dalia is considered to be good choice for those who are trying to reduce refined grains
  • Heat a pan and dry roast the dalia for 4 - 5 min. keep aside
  • Take a pressure cooker add ghee, cumin seeds, asafoetida, ginger, and saute for a few seconds.
  • Add chopped onion, turmeric powder saute for 1 - 2 mins, add all the chopped vegetables, tomatoes in one go saute for 4 - 5 mins.
  • Add roasted Dalia mix everything well, saute for 2 mins.
  • Add water, add salt mix well cover the lid, and pressure cook for just one whistle.
  • Add lemon juice and garnish with coriander. Serve Hot !!

  • Dry roast Dalia in large quantity, so that you can store it for a longer period of time, and that helps you save your time in the early morning routine.
