Crispy Falafel Bites
Falafel is a very popular Middle Eastern street food made using chickpeas as its base ingredient. It is crispy from the outside, soft and tender from the inside. Shapes may vary from place to place but falafel is deep-fried balls made from chickpeas ground. Sometimes used as patty filling or served with a salad with drinks or simply wrapped with tasty tangy sauce and dips.

Ingredients
- Chickpeas 1 cup overnight soaked
- Onion 1 big roughly chopped
- Garlic 1 tbsp
- Fresh Coriander 1/4 cup roughly chopped
- Green Chillies 3 - 4 or to taste
- Salt to taste
- Gram Flour 2 tbsp
- Cumin Powder 1 tsp
- Coriander Powder 1 tsp
- Black Pepper 1/2 tsp
- Lemon Juice 1 tbsp
- Oil for frying
Directions
Add the presoaked chickpeas to a mixing jar along with onion, garlic, green chilies, fresh green chilies, cumin powder, coriander powder, black pepper, salt, lemon juice, gram flour all in one go and grind coarsely.
- Transfer this mixture in a bowl.
- Cover the bowl and refrigerate for 15 minutes.
- After 15 minutes take out the bowl from the refrigerator and take a small ball from the mixture, give shape of your choice and deep fry them on medium to low heat till they turn golden and crisp. Crispy Falafel Bites are ready!!
Instant Kitchenette Tip
- You can add 1/2 tsp of baking powder to the mixture to make it more tender, airy and light.
- To give falafel authentic flavor
add 1/2 tsp of cardamom powder.
