Winter Special Matar(Peas) Kachori

Matar ki Kachori - Ek baar banana to banta hai !!

Winter brings a whole lot of green vegetables in your kitchen, somehow it feels so freshen up after hot humid warm summer. Green Peas or Matar as we call it in India bring so much of tastes and varieties in your recipes. Matar Paneer (Cottage Cheese with Peas) or Aloo Matar(Potato Peas) or Matar Masala etc. are some of the peas which are very common in Indian kitchen.

Today Sharing the recipe of Matar Kachori that is simple and incredibly tasty. Matar Kachori nothing but Peas stuffed deep-fried Bread. At least You can try once.

  • Preparation Time 20 - 25 mins
  • Cooking Time 20 - 25 mins

Ingredients

  • Whole Wheat Flour 1 1/2 cup
  • All-Purpose Flour 1/2 cup
  • Ghee 4 tbs
  • Salt 1 tsp ( to taste)
  • Water as required

For Stuffing 

  • Peas ( Green Peas) 2 cup
  • Green Chillies 3 - 4 (chopped) 
  • Asafetida 1 pinch
  • Cumin Seed 1 tsp
  • Fennel Seed  1 tsp
  • Coriander Seeds 1 tsp
  • Ginger 1 inch (finely chopped)
  • Amchur Powder  2 tsp
  • Garam Masala  1 tsp
  • Black Pepper 1/2 tsp
  • Salt to taste
  • Oil 

Method

For Filling

  • Heat a pan add cumin seeds, fennel seeds, black pepper, coriander seeds dry roast them and coarsely make into powder.
  • Now heat a pan add ginger, green chillies, asafetida, peas, salt to taste sprinkle some water mix well and cover with a lid to cook it properly.
  • Once it is cooked add coarse dry masala, garam masala, amchur powder and cook it till it gets soft.
  • Mash it properly and keep it aside for cooling.

For Dough

  • In a mixing bowl, add whole wheat flour, all-purpose flour, add ghee, salt to taste and water as required and knead a soft dough. Let it rest for 10 - 15 mins.

For Kachoris / Bread

Served here is Indian classic recipes of Matar (Green Peas), Popularly known as Matar Kachori or simply call it puffed patty normally served with Chutney and pickles
  • Take lemon sized dough flat it and stuff with the filling and prepare a small ball.
  • Deep fry the Kachoris in hot oil until golden brown on both sides. Serve hot

Instant Kitchenette Tip

  • Taste best when fried in ghee.
  • You can add 2 tsp of mango pickle masala to the stuffing, it will enhance the flavour of kachoris.
