Aloo Tikki Chat

This is a North Indian chat recipe, shallow fried potatoes patties topped with green chutney, tamarind chutney, sweet yogurt, and sev. It's easy and simple to make at home. Typical Indian Sub-Continent snacks enjoyed not only in India but also in Pakistan, Bangladesh, and Afganistan as well. This is a popular street food that is lip-smacking and flavourful.

Ingredients

  • Boiled Potatoes (grated) 2 cup 
  • Green Chillies 2
  • Fresh Green Coriander 
  • Cumin Powder  2 tsp
  • Red Chilli Powder 2 tsp
  • Rice Flour 3 tbsp
  • Amchur Powder 1 tsp
  • Salt to taste
  • Oil as required
  • Fresh Green Chutney
  • Tamarind Chutney
  • Sweet curd 1/2 cup ( curd mixed with 1 tbsp of sugar)
  • Chat Masala

Directions

Popular north Indian street food, served along with Potato Cutlets  and tamarind sauce and sweet curd.
  • In a bowl mix grated potatoes, green chillies, coriander leaves, 1 tsp of cumin powder, red chilli powder, amchur powder, rice flour, salt and mix everything together.
  • Now make tikki out of that.
  • Heat a pan add 3/4 cup (6 -7 tbsp) of oil and shallow fry the tikkis until it turns brown.
  • Drain out the tikki in kitchen tissue.
  • On a serving plate place the aloo tikki top it with sweet curd, green coriander chutney, tamarind chutney, sprinkle some cumin powder, red chili powder, some fresh coriander leaves, and some chat masala. Serve hot!!

Instant Kitchnette Tip

  • Take 1 tsp of cumin powder, 1 tsp of fennel seeds, 1 tsp of coriander powder dry roast this masala and sprinkle on the top of the chat to give this dish an authentic flavour and you can store this masala to use in any kind of chat.
  • Add some rice flour to the potatoes to make the tikkis' crisp.
  • For the binding, you can add some cornflour to the boiled potatoes.
